Italy is a wonderful country that is known for being one of Europe’s most popular tourist spots. Its culture, food, and architectural beauty attracts countless travelers every year that tourism has become among the country’s major economic bureaus. If traveling to this country is in your bucket list, then check out these Alitalia Airlines reviews to give you an idea on what to expect from the country’s flag carrier.
Origins and ownership
The airline’s roots is a bit confusing. Looking at the company’s past, they have suffered multiple bankruptcies. Its first roots can be traced back to March 12 1999 under the name Trattamenti Termici Solbiate s.r.l.
Their latest founding date isn’t very glamorous either, considering how it is a result of the merger between to bankrupt Italian carriers. In 2008, several investors decided to purchase the ownership to Alitalia-Linee Aeree Italiane, which they plan to merge with the bankrupt Air One.
The “new” Alitalia commenced operations in January 1, 2015 with Luca Cordero di Montezemolo serving as its chairman. Montezemolo was born in Bologna, Italy in August 31, 1947.
What people are saying
Much like in many other airlines, flying with Alitalia has its own perks and disadvantages. According to the Alitalia Airlines reviews I found online, the Italian carrier’s strongest points are the following: in-flight service by the staff, cabin cleanliness, ticket prices, and efficiency. The flight crew, as per the passengers, were very enthusiastic. Their friendly demeanor never fades, from the boarding to disembarkation. Overall, the passengers who left Alitalia Airlines reviews were satisfied.
However, they only wished that the seats were a bit further from each other because the airline’s seat pitch is a bit meager. The food as well as the available in-flight entertainment was pretty much of average quality.
Their website looks very well-made, giving it a highly professional vibe. On their homepage, you will find several photos that showcase Italy’s top destinations as well as the services that the airline offers.
In the middle of the page is an image carousel that automatically changes every few seconds. Click the arrows to switch from one image to another. Above that is the flight booking form. Fill up the text boxes and select a date of departure and return (optional) to see the results.
