An Airport in Denmark, situated northeast of Billund. The airport serves as one of Denmark’s busiest air cargo centres, as well as a charter airline destination; although some regular airlines also offers flights there. The Legoland Billund Park, the largest tourist attraction in Denmark, outside Copenhagen, is actually just near the airport.
The history of Billund Airport began when the son of the founder of the Lego Group, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, established a private 800-meter long runway and hangar north of his factory in Billund, in 1961. With Christiansen as a key driver, more of the neighbouring municipalities were included in the group of owners, and it was planned that the airport should be expanded to a regular public airport. The airport’s first terminal building was opened in 1966, and hence the expansion of the airport continues through the following years.
Reviews – What People Are Saying
A small yet accessible airport, that is actually near hotels and other facilities throughout the city. Billund airport receives numbers of positive reviews coming from its customers. A good impression of being a small, yet efficient airport. Here are some of the reviews.
“This airport has been my home airport for a long time. This is the airports that I have flown in/out from most – and I generally enjoy Billund Airport. The terminal is bright, airy and very enjoyable. The ground staff is, for the most part, very smily – and there are always a homely feeling to the service. You feel like a friend to them rather than a customer, in a good way of course. The airport offers a efficient service from check-in via boarding to departure + arrival again. Dining and shopping options are limited, naturally because of its limited size. I do find the dining and shopping options more than sufficient to my needs, and the culinary things are generally of a very high quality, delicious, nutritious and healthy.”

“This is a solid local airport that serves area very well. It’s a gateway for Legoland (you can see as you land), and they know taking care family passengers = €€€. Modern and well designed baggage pickup and entry control. Rental car access is right by the baggage pick up, and parking is across the terminal building with quick walk. Couple shops and plenty of space for family to relax before flight.”
—Tom I (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
“I got to tell ya, this is a pretty decent airport for a local one. I use this to get in and out of town on business. It’s really close to the hotels and it’s easy in/easy out at 6:30am. The breakfast is decent in the morning and it’s easy to get to your plane. What more could you ask for?”

A very small airport that provides decent services to all of its arriving customers. They might don’t have souvenir stalls for passengers to shop, but there are a number of restaurants and cafes that serves the best and delicious food. Arriving at the airport must be a warm and amiable experience. Have you been to Billund Airport? What are your experiences? Let us know by commenting below.
