Kansai International Airport
Kansai International Airport was constructed to relieve the overcrowding predicament of Osaka International Airport, which is also located in a highly densely populated area and noise pollution became the great problem of people living nearby which resulted to a long list of complaints filed against the airport. This issue paved the way for the airport planners to put the new airport on an artificial island near the Osaka bay, which will lessen the noise pollution.
In this Kansai International Airport review, we are going to give travelers an overview about this airport located in a man-made island– Kansai International Airport.
Reviews – What People Are Saying
Travelers have a lot of fond memories to share about this airport, and looking back on what people say about their service, a lot of travelers highly recommend Kansai International Airport for its overall convenience. Moreover, the airport is widely known for its capacious structure, which provides an amiable time to travelers on layover. As a matter of fact, everything runs very smoothly inside: fast immigration and customs and not to mention the roomy waiting areas.
Meanwhile, Kansai International Airport is a gigantic airport located on an artificial Island and it’s inevitable to be confused or to get lost inside. Fortunately, the airport has a large number of information desks located inside the airport. As a matter of fact, there is a large information desk located in the main building of the airport, near the entrance which is staffed by a dozen friendly staff.
Unfortunately, like other Japanese airports, Kansai International Airport signage are a bit confusing at times, and in case you get lost at the airport and can’t find an information desk near, there are some uniformed airport staff roaming around the airport who can provide assistance. However, some staff barely speak English, which is why you should be more patient in communicating with them, but don’t worry Japanese people are one of the most courteous and generous people — surely they will help you.
In terms of bathrooms, Kansai International Airport has various free and paid bathrooms. In fact, some free bathrooms are located in the airline’s lounge which provides free bathroom service to airline’s passengers. Comfort rooms, on the other hand, are located in every terminal of the airport, and are generally modern and clean. In addition to that, there are also special comfort rooms allotted to people with disabilities with standby staff to assist.
Speaking of people with disabilities, Kansai International Airport gives importance to elderly and physically impaired travelers; just make sure to call the airport service hotline 24 hours before the scheduled flight, so that airport assistance team can assist you from the airport to the aircraft or vise versa.
Meanwhile, it won’t be a problem if you are rushing to buy some souvenirs from the airport, Kansai International Airport has extensive shopping options ranging from some local and foreign brands, Japanese stores and much more. In addition to that, there are various Japanese restaurants that serve authentic Japanese food, which are worthy to visit.
The airport is located in a reclaimed island located several miles from the sea shore, and is only connected by a Skyway. Moreover, there are various grounds and water transportation that can be used to get in and out of the airport such as: bus, train and ferry service. Moreover, Kansai Airport Transportation Enterprise provides a scheduled bus service in and out of the airport, as well as in nearby cities, which is the most convenient ground transportation to use.
Location – Traffic – Service
The airport’s artificial island is located in the middle of Osaka Bay, 38 km (24 mi) southwest of Ōsaka Station, located within three municipalities, including Izumisano (north), Sennan (south), and Tajiri (central), in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Furthermore, the airport serves as the primary hub of major Japanese airlines such as: All Nippon Airways, FedEx Express, Japan Airlines, Jetstar Japan, Nippon Cargo Airlines, and Peach. In addition to that, Kansai International Airport has only two operational terminals with two runways.

Based on this Kansai International Airport review, in terms of airport service I believe that KIX offers nearly everything and with no doubt the modern facilities of the airport are truly remarkable, which greatly added to their good reputation as an airport. However, improvement in terms of signage is still necessary, but aside from this minor problem, Kansai International Airport is still highly-recommended.
