Shenzhen Airlines Reviews
Shenzhen Airlines traces its roots back to November 1992. It has its own subsidiaries including Asia United Business Aviation, Henan Airlines and Kunming Airlines. The airline is currently led by their president Chen Zhiyong. Even though Shenzhen Airlines has subsidiaries, it’s still 51% owned by the flag carrier of China, Air China.
Shenzhen Airlines is headquartered at Bao’an International Airport and has been a member of Star Alliance since November 2012. Presently, the airline has a fleet size of 166 Airbus and Boeing.
There was only one incident reported since then about Shenzhen Airlines. It’s the Flight 9648 incident in July 2015, when one man tried to commit arson while the aircraft was landing in Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Two passengers were injured but thanks to the bravery of these two, no one was harmed and the 102 lives were saved. Eventually, the airline and the 2 passengers were rewarded on how they handled the situation.
Shenzhen Airlines offers three cabin classes on board: Economy, Business, and First Class.
Economy class seats are at 32 inches, the aisle gives passengers a space of 17.8 inches to move around. Business class seats can be reclined to a lie-flat bed with mood lighting mechanism and armchairs. First class seats are at 38 pitches in total and can be reclined to a lie-flat bed; each seat also has a built-in adjustment mechanism. Armrest, extra legroom, complimentary meals, and mood lighting mechanism are available for First Class passengers.
Shenzhen Airlines provides complimentary meals and beverages to passengers for selected flights. Special meals can be reserved 24 hours prior to your departure time. The airline doesn’t have much inflight entertainment aside from the TV screens on the ceiling.
We have to be honest, the official website of Shenzhen Airlines is pretty plain and non-engaging. Though on a positive note, travelers can book flights, check-in, manage their booking, and check flight status online through this. The idea of “less is more” doesn’t really apply to their website design. However, the interface function is fast. Promotion of special offers with discounts is done and availed through the PhoenixMiles program.
Unfortunately Shenzhen Airlines isn’t very mobile-friendly, as it does not yet have an Android or an iOS application.
Shenzhen Airlines Reviews of Passengers
Shenzhen Airline appears to be an average airline according to its passengers. On Skytrax, based from 25 Shenzhen Airlines reviews, customers say that the airline has no proper control and organization when doing their job. One passenger was disappointed when he got stuck in Economy Class when he booked for Business Class; the attendants required him to pay extra to be transferred to Business Class.

Shenzhen Airlines needs to improve most of their services on board and even their official website needs to at least be modernized. However, it’s clear that Shenzhen Airlines manages to expand its services and will probably continue to grow.
Just so you know, even with the number of complaints shown online, Shenzhen Airlines is still part of the list of “The World’s Top 100 Airlines in 2015” at the 92nd spot.
