Online travel websites have changed the way people can book flights and hotels and even rent a car. They have made it a one stop shop that saves people time and money. With convenience comes consequences, because it has hurt the small privately owned travel agencies that cost more and take time and money to book with.
Origins and Ownership
Travelocity was founded by Terry Jones in 1996 in Dallas, Texas USA. It was bought in January 2015 by Expedia for 280 million USD and is now based in Southlake, Texas. Its origins are said to have come from American Airlines when they started to offer their Sabre electronic reservation system to their customers in 1978.
Over the past few years the CEO has changed many times. Before Expedia bought Travelocity the CEO was Carl Sparks. He stepped down in 2014 and Roshan Mendis the president of Travelocity was named to manage operations. As of now Dara Khosrowshahi the CEO of Expedia is overseeing Travelocity as well. He was born in Tehran, Iran on May 28, 1969.
What you are saying
Looking over the Travelocity review pages mostly all I can find is very bad comments. Most people said it was their first time useing it and will never use it again. Some of the complaints range from taking weeks to get a refund and the description of the hotel is wrong, as well as saying their customer service is non-existent. There were more than 3 comments saying that the wrong flight or hotel was booked because the website changed it when they were doing the checkout page.
In this Travelocity review, here’s what can I say about the website. Its like most other websites of its type, has buttons to push for flights, hotels or car rentals. They offer package deals and there is also a cruise button that I have not seen on most other websites. I also came across a mobile app download that offers most everything the full site has.
I did not see anything for frequent users of the site but I guess they feel their fares are low so no need to help the customers that use them often. At the bottom of the page there are many ways to make your search faster by clicking one of the most often searched places to visit
There are many ways to get in touch with customer service. You can call them at 1-855-863-9601 you can email them through their website but it is a pop up and fill in the blank, no email address is given and you can request a call back. As I clicked, it said the wait time is less than 5 minutes.
The main office is in Southlake, TX. I seen that as of 2014 they have 1,554 employees and have won a few awards but nothing really notable since 2008. They did win Best in Show For the Roaming Gnome MySpace page. Other awards are; 2008 Corporate Social Responsibility Award Go Zero Program, 2008 Atlas Best Overall Branding Award and in 2007 they took home the Atlas Inspiration Award Travel for Good

To Sum Things Up
I think over all Travelocity.com needs to improve a lot. I don’t think it is the websites fault I think it is because of the many changes in the management over the years and with all the complaints from the customer service department.
Looking back at the remarks I don’t think there was one real good comment on any of the review sites. It was really odd seeing all one star comments but I don’t think people from all over the world would be saying the same things if they weren’t true. So I really think something needs to be done about the customers, if you have no customers you can’t make money, bottom line I think they need to start taking care of people better.
